Knee and hip osteoarthritis
Starting in March, we will be offering new group classes for people with hip and knee osteoarthritis at our practice. This initiative has been made possible thanks to a new regulation from the RIZIV, which allows us to offer this therapy in a high-quality and affordable manner. A prescription from a doctor is required.
The group classes will be held in small groups of 2 to 5 people, ensuring personal guidance and safety.
How does the program work?
Each participant starts with an initial individual appointment. During this session, we take the time to:
- discuss your symptoms and goals
- conduct a thorough physiotherapy examination
- assess whether group classes are suitable for you
Based on this, we draw up a targeted exercise program. From the following sessions onwards, you will join the group classes, which take place twice a week.
What can you expect from the group classes?
During the group sessions, we will work specifically on:
- improving mobility and muscle strength
- increasing functional independence
- teaching you exercises that you can also do at home
Everything is done under the supervision of a physical therapist, with exercises specifically tailored to people with hip and knee osteoarthritis.
Why choose group lessons?
Group therapy offers many advantages:
- Motivating: exercising together encourages you to persevere.
- Recognition and support: you are not alone.
- Personal guidance: thanks to the small groups, individual follow-up remains possible.
- Affordable: there is a fixed hourly rate imposed by the RIZIV → the more participants in the group, the lower the cost per person
Who is it for?
These group lessons are suitable for adults with:
- hip osteoarthritis
- knee osteoarthritis
